On 11 May 2026, the Department of Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Development) was pleased to receive a bench-marking visit from PANASONIC Air-Conditioning Malaysia, providing a valuable opportunity for knowledge sharing, technical expertise exchange, and potential research collaboration towards the proposed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between PANASONIC Air-Conditioning Malaysia and Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM).
The delegation from PANASONIC Air-Conditioning Malaysia is Mr. Yoshida Mitsuyoshi, Chief Operating Officer, Mr. Stephen Eric Khan (CSMO), Mr. Wang Hong Boon (Key Account Manager), Mr. Brian Hew (Marketing Manager), Mr. Victor Gan (Senior Engineer), Mr. Jeremy Tan (Project Engineer), and Mr. Chiew Ting Wang (Branch Manager), UTM FKE Alumni 2009.
The engagement and pitching session between UTM and PANASONIC Air-Conditioning Malaysia was held with full professionalism and the spirit of strategic collaboration. This session opened a space for two-way discussions that were very meaningful in strengthening the bridge of cooperation between industry and academia, especially in the field of air conditioning engineering technology, expertise, and smart classrooms.
The session began with an opening speech by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Development UTM (TNCP), Prof. Ts. Eddy Tonizam bin Mohamad, who also introduced the UTM team, namely Puan Noor Azlinda binti Maskor, Head of the Maintenance Section, and Ts. Dr. Imanurezeki bin Mohamad, Head of the Academic Unit, provided an initial summary of the goals and expectations of the session that day. The pitching presentation delivered by Ts. Dr. Imanurezeki provided a clear picture of UTM’s research capabilities in offering research-based solutions to the real challenges faced by the industry.
The interactions throughout the session demonstrated a strong alignment of focus between industry needs and the strengths of professional, technical, and academic expertise. It is hoped that the efforts, discussions, and enthusiasm of both parties in this session will be a catalyst for more sustainable research collaboration and technology transfer in the future.
