Background

The Office of the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Development) is responsible for corporate administration strategies, human resource management, financial management, legal advisory services, and ICT support. The office also manages overseas travel applications for non-academic staff, approval of working papers for seminars, special meetings, or programmes, reporting and monitoring of Key Amal Indicators (KAI), as well as staff appointments, welfare, training, and performance management. In addition, this main office oversees the university’s financial management, including procurement, fund monitoring, and the safekeeping of university assets. To ensure all these responsibilities are carried out effectively, a strong legal foundation through proper documentation, contracts, and agreements (MOU/MOA) is essential.

To provide a healthy and safe working environment, the Occupational Safety & Health (OSH) Office organises programmes and activities that meet the health and safety needs of the entire UTM community. The office also assists in conducting audits and inspections of workplaces and facilities within UTM, while investigating complaints or potential workplace hazards, including work-related accidents and occupational diseases. Overall, the role of OSH is to serve as the secretary and coordinator for the UTM community while promoting health and safety training programmes and awareness campaigns.

The Advancement Division primarily focuses on philanthropic initiatives, which typically include fundraising, alumni relations, data management or advancement services, communications and marketing, as well as government relations.

Meanwhile, the Business Development Division is responsible for activities that generate new business opportunities, including product or service design, business model development, and marketing. This also includes the development of new products or technologies, as well as investment or disposal of corporate assets.

Located in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, the UTM Kuala Lumpur Advancement and Business Management Office serves as a one-stop centre for business-related income generation and advancement activities. The office specialises in identifying new business opportunities and potential donors within the Klang Valley area. It is also responsible for planning, monitoring, and maintaining university assets in Kuala Lumpur.
