| 1. Are students required to stay in the residential college? All new local students are required to stay in the residential college as stated in their offer letter. Senior students may stay in the residential college based on their preference and subject to room availability. |
| 2. How is the application process for residential college rooms? a. New local undergraduate students: Placement in the residential college has been predetermined as stated in the offer letter. b. New local postgraduate and international students: Applications should be made via email to asrama@utm.my. Approval is subject to room availability in the residential colleges. c. Senior students: Applications are made through the UTMHostel system, accessible via the student portal. The application period opens at the end of the second semester of each academic session. |
| 3. How long is the residential college accommodation offer valid? The accommodation offer is valid for one academic session (two semesters). Students must reapply for accommodation in the following session. |
| 4. What is the room rate per semester? Room rates can be referred to in the Residential College Rate Schedule. |
| 5. How are residential college fees charged and how can payments be made? Residential college fees are automatically debited to the student’s account through the student portal. Payments can be made at any time after the charge appears in the portal. |
| 6. Can students choose their preferred room type or residential college? For new local undergraduate students, no. The students are assigned twin-sharing rooms, and the college placement is predetermined. |
| 7. What furniture and amenities are provided in the residential college rooms? Each room is equipped with: A study table and chair A bed and mattress A wardrobe |
| 8. Are students allowed to change rooms or colleges? Students must fill out the Room/College Change Form and submit it to the college they wish to transfer to. Approved room or college transfers made after two weeks from the start of the semester will incur a service fee of RM50.00. |

How can I apply for hostel room rental for programmes or activities conducted on the UTM campus?Official applications for hostel room rental for any programme or activity can be submitted via email to asrama@utm.my by completing the form available at the following link: Hostel Room Rental Application Form. Applications must be submitted at least 7 days before the intended rental date, and approval is subject to room availability at the residential colleges. |
