Business development generally concerns all the activities involved in realising new business opportunities, including product or service design, business model design, and marketing. It also means prospection and includes but not limited to, activities such as developing a new product or technology, investing or divesting corporate assets
One of the strategic steps mandated by the JPU is the consolidation of asset and facility management under the strategic business unit (SBU) framework. The SBU clusters: Hospitality; Sports, Recreation & Edu-Tourism; Services; Healthcare; Agriculture. The 5 SBU-Clusters are run as a business-like operation, with partial financial autonomy without any operational budget from the University. This SBU model of managing and monetizing income-producing assets is expected to generate more revenues for the University.
