Scholar’s Inn UTM was established in 1989 as a Guest House Unit with seven (7) two-bedroom houses, which were scattered within a residential college area to accommodate visitors to Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM). At that time, the primary objective was to provide a comfortable and convenient on-campus stay for university guests, visiting academics, and official visitors.
In response to the increasing demand for accommodation, the facility was further expanded in 1992 through the renovation of 88 single-room units, which were introduced as serviced rooms. This expansion significantly enhanced our capacity to support a growing number of local and international visitors attending academic programmes, meetings, conferences, and official events at UTM.
As part of UTM’s institutional transformation and development, Scholar’s Inn relocated to its current dedicated building in 2004. Since then, we have continued our operations as a non-profit public entity, committed to supporting the University’s academic and community mission by providing reliable, safe, and accessible on-campus lodging.
Today, Scholar’s Inn serves a diverse group of guests, including visiting scholars, invited speakers, parents and family members of UTM students, and other campus visitors. Over the years, we have continuously enhanced our facilities, services, and operational standards to ensure a pleasant, comfortable, and memorable stay for every guest, while upholding the values and hospitality standards of Universiti Teknologi Malaysia.
At the same time, Scholar’s Inn remains firmly committed to maintaining professional service standards. Student involvement is guided and supervised by experienced staff to ensure that the quality, reliability, and consistency of our services are never compromised.
Our goal is to make every guest’s stay comfortable, pleasant, and well supported. Should any aspect of our service fall short of your expectations, we sincerely welcome your feedback so that we may take immediate action and improve your experience with us.
