UTM will conduct three major research projects focus on issues of sustainability and environmental management in Johor involving research cost about RM3 million per year. UTM Vice Chancellor, Prof. Datuk Ir. Dr. Wahid Omar said the project  included in the five-year plan of environmentally sustainable development of Johor from 2015-2019 provided by UTM in an effort to maintaining environmental treasures.

Research will be conducted on a large scale involves a Sustainable Environment and Eco-Tourism Development in Endau Rompin, Pahang River Basin Integrated Management and Integrated Management of Municipal Waste and Sustainability.

UTM will continue to provide expertise to ensure the well-being of the people of Johor through various research that bring significant changes in the upgrade image and life of the people of this country.

Also present were the Chairman of the Environmental Research Group UTM, Prof Dr Zulkifli Mohd Yusof and Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Development) UTM, Prof Dr Azlan Abdul Rahman .

Its also established the Chair of Environment to conduct high-impact research that could benefit the people and support the country’s economic growth.

Its also welcomes the involvement of industry and corporate parties wishing to contribute to the strengthening of research that focuses on environmental sustainability.

Each project is estimated to cost a total of RM1 million to research led by a professor either in or outside the country who are experts in the field.
